The Hollywood International Film Festival is an international competitive film festival organized by Hummingbird Art and Culture Foundation Ltd.
Created to celebrate independent cinema and diverse global storytelling, HIFF provides filmmakers with a platform to present original work, connect with audiences and receive meaningful professional recognition.
The festival brings together emerging filmmakers, established artists, industry professionals, educators, cultural leaders and cinema audiences through screenings, competitions, filmmaker conversations, panels, workshops, networking and awards.
HIFF is rooted in the belief that cinema can cross borders, preserve cultural memory and allow audiences to understand lives and experiences beyond their own.
Film and storytelling are central to the charitable and cultural mission of Hummingbird Art and Culture Foundation. Through HIFF, the Foundation can:

HIFF expands HBACF’s Film & Storytelling program from individual screenings and premieres into a recurring international platform.
The idea for the Hollywood International Film Festival was conceived by filmmaker and cultural producer Umar John.
The vision began in Dubai in 2009, alongside the development of Hummingbird Film Studios. Umar envisioned a platform where filmmakers from different countries, languages and cultural backgrounds could present their work without being defined solely by commercial expectations.
Hummingbird Art and Culture Foundation now provides the nonprofit and cultural framework through which that vision is developed. HIFF is intended to grow as a respected destination for filmmakers who believe cinema can entertain, communicate, preserve and transform.
The mission of HIFF is to advance the art of storytelling by supporting filmmakers, encouraging creative excellence and presenting films that expand cultural understanding.
The festival seeks to recognize both accomplished professionals and emerging voices while maintaining thoughtful standards of artistic merit, originality, cultural relevance and professional integrity.
HIFF is designed as more than an awards ceremony.

Post-screening conversations allowing directors, writers, producers, actors and audiences to discuss the creative process and themes behind the work.

Educational sessions designed to give filmmakers usable knowledge rather than generic motivational speeches.

HIFF welcomes filmmakers and stories from around the world.
International participation is essential to the festival’s identity because meaningful cinema is not limited by nationality, language, production budget or commercial visibility. The festival’s regional and language-specific categories allow distinct traditions to be recognized while remaining part of a shared international cinematic conversation.

Final categories, prizes and eligibility requirements are announced for each festival season.
Films are evaluated by approved jurors and industry professionals according to criteria that may include: quality of storytelling, originality and creative vision, direction and performance, screenwriting, technical achievement, cultural significance, emotional and intellectual impact, social relevance, and overall artistic merit.
Submission does not automatically guarantee official selection or public screening. A limited number of films may be selected for festival presentation according to programming capacity and curatorial priorities.
Selected award recipients receive a specially designed HIFF trophy representing creative vision, storytelling and achievement in cinema.
The HIFF trophy is an exclusive symbol of recognition associated specifically with HIFF’s film awards, and remains visually and editorially separate from the Hummingbird Award of Excellence.

Hollywood International Film Festival is organized by Hummingbird Art and Culture Foundation Ltd. HBACF provides the festival’s nonprofit framework and connects HIFF to the Foundation’s wider work in art, cultural exchange, education, public programming and community engagement.
