Recognition that carries responsibility
The Hummingbird Award of Excellence will honor artists, filmmakers, writers, musicians, cultural leaders, educators, humanitarians and community figures whose work demonstrates excellence, originality, integrity and meaningful public impact.
More than a celebration of professional success, it is intended to recognize people whose work carries culture forward — individuals who create, preserve, inspire and serve, and who use their influence to make a lasting contribution.
Why the Foundation is creating it
Exceptional creative and cultural work does not always receive the recognition it deserves. Many artists, independent filmmakers, writers, educators and community leaders spend years building bridges, preserving heritage and serving others without access to major institutional platforms.
The Foundation is establishing this award to create a respected international platform where meaningful achievement can be recognized with dignity. Recognition can do more than celebrate the past: it can introduce important work to new audiences, encourage artists to keep creating, and inspire the next generation to pursue excellence with purpose.

Small form, long distance
The hummingbird represents energy, resilience, movement and the ability to carry beauty across distances. Although small in form, it travels with remarkable strength — reflecting the way a single artist, story or act of service can create influence far beyond its point of origin.
Each honoree will receive the specially designed Hummingbird trophy, intended to become a recognizable international symbol of creative excellence, cultural leadership and service with purpose.
Where excellence may be recognized
Categories may evolve from year to year depending on the strength of nominations and the focus of each annual program.
How recipients will be considered
Recipients will be considered on the significance and integrity of their work rather than popularity alone. The Foundation may weigh artistic and professional excellence, originality, cultural significance, contribution to public life, ethical leadership, commitment to inclusion, support for emerging artists, lasting impact, sustained achievement and the potential to inspire.
A nomination will not guarantee an award. Where nominations in a category do not meet the required standard, the Foundation may decide not to present an award that year.
Awards are not for sale
The credibility of this award depends entirely on the fairness of its selection. Sponsors and donors may support the program, but financial support will not determine nominations, selections or outcomes.
Everyone taking part in selection will be expected to disclose relevant personal, professional or financial conflicts. Sponsorship packages, event tickets and charitable contributions remain entirely separate from the evaluation of nominees.
The planned nomination route
Nominations may be invited from artists, cultural organizations, educational institutions, community groups, industry professionals and the public. Full rules, eligibility and deadlines will be published before nominations open.
