Hummingbird Art and Culture Foundation Ltd., in collaboration with TKONI Ground Productions, presented the Washington premiere of Pindi De Gurucharan — a culturally rooted cinematic work centered on sacrifice, memory and the continuation of an important artistic legacy.
The invitation-only premiere was held on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Angelika Film Center & Café at Mosaic in Fairfax, Virginia. It brought together filmmakers, cast members, cultural leaders, media representatives and invited community guests in an environment where cinema, heritage and public conversation could meet.
About the film
Pindi De Gurucharan is a story of sacrifice based on the writing of the legendary Indian writer Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. The film carries forward a creative and cultural legacy through a story shaped by courage, human values and the sacrifices that define both individuals and communities.

How the evening unfolded
The premiere was conceived as more than a screening — a complete cultural and cinematic experience connecting the film’s creative team directly with audiences, media professionals and community representatives.
Two communities, one evening
The formal programme included opening remarks from the leadership of Sikhs of America and Muslims of America. Their participation reflected the premiere’s broader spirit of cultural connection, mutual respect and community engagement.
By bringing representatives from different communities together through cinema, the evening demonstrated how storytelling can create occasions for dialogue and shared understanding.
A bridge between heritage and public life
Presenting a film inspired by the writing of Khwaja Ahmad Abbas to audiences in the Washington metropolitan region created a bridge between South Asian literary heritage and contemporary American public life.
