From the Foundation’s earliest years, supporting performance that brings South Asian audiences together across the Washington, D.C. region.
The Foundation supported these events as a sponsor. Each was produced and presented by independent promoters.
Supporting the arts since our earliest years
The Foundation has supported live performance in this region since its early years. Touring comedy is how many diaspora communities gather — a performer working in Hindi or Urdu fills a school auditorium, and for one evening a scattered community has a room of its own.
These are older events, but they matter to the record. They show that the Foundation was backing arts and culture in this region long before its current programme of exhibitions and film work — and that promoting cultural life has been part of its purpose from the beginning.
In each case the Foundation appeared as a sponsor alongside other supporters, and the events were produced and presented by independent promoters.

Alongside the exhibitions, screenings and programs the Foundation presents directly, it supports work led by others. Both matter. A cultural ecosystem is not built by one organization presenting everything — it is built by many organizations backing each other.
Where the Foundation contributes as a sponsor rather than an organizer, it says so.
